How do you evaluate the quality of the professors and other teachers at your host university (scale 1-5: 1=poor/negative, 5=excellent): 3, some were really good, some not. It is kind of a lottery and also keep in mind that the way learning is carried out is different from Sweden and the english level is lower. But we are happy with it since we expected this.
How do you evaluate the quality of the courses you took at the host university (scale 1-5: 1=poor/negative, 5=excellent): 3, also a lotteri and dependent on the teacher mainly. I would recommend courses that are easy for self learning, ex: marketing/HR. Finance and accounting will be ok but if you want to make it easy for yourself, especially if you want to travel, other alternatives will be better.
On your arrival at the host university, were you offered:
A welcome event yes
An information session yes
An orientation program no
A language course yes (mandarine)
How do you consider your degree of integration with local students in the host university (scale 1-5: 1=poor/negative, 5=excellent): 5! The students here really want to get to know exchange students and they are really nice and helpful:)
How did you find your accommodation?: Good! Students live in a staff dormitory that are cleaned regurarly. There is no kitchen though, but I promise, If there were, we would not cook anyway:)
Did you have to pay any kind of fees at your host university?: Accomodation, was about 13000 HKD for the whole semester and out of this you pay 2000 HKD in deposit that you get back (if you dont ruin something)
Recommendations for next year’s students abroad: Make sure to travel alot! Macau is a perfect “travel hub”. Make use of all the membership cards in the casinos as they give you nice discounts. Do not expect to be einstein coming here but the school is really accomodating to exchange students and you will learn. Not just the same quality as in Sweden.
